it's a capacity issue. there's a mismatch in capacity. if someone loves green and I'm purple, we simply don't align, and that's okay.

The more you do it, the more comfortable you will be at stating your needs. (That’s what my therapist says lol) And you don’t want to be with someone who disrespects you and doesn’t want to do the bare minimum even if things “feel good” when you’re together. Coming from a girly who hates asking for her needs and just got dumped from a guy I’ve been with for three years who never wanted to meet my very basic needs like consistent communication. So I feel you hard. It sucks. But you’ll be okay. ♥️

Experience has taught me that even if we feel like we can’t walk away when this happens, we should. The problems that arise early on will continue to resurface unless the person demonstrates that they want to change through their actions, not their words. It’s very rare for people to change later on, unless they actively feel the need to. I would express my needs to him maybe once more, and if he doesn’t change, I would walk away. To me, getting more attached will put me at a disadvantage later on and will only lead to me getting hurt.

You can’t be too much for the right person, be 100% you bc they will embrace your muchness if they are right for u. When I saw someone say this it helped so much, bc stop dulling yourself down so someone will like you more 👏👏

Sounds exactly like me. I did communicate calmly, clearly, consistently. And action wasn’t taken until I decided to leave. I do wish I communicated the consequences of my boundaries and maybe that would have been more effective, but who knows. I wish he would have been able to try to meet my needs without the threat of leaving. But here we are 😞

Part is that we are conditioned to accommodate, give chances, buffer , and adjust even . Part is that we fuse together in our head some good moments with the feeling of safety, that is ultimately what we want in a relationship. Once you realize these 2 things, detaching starts 😉😽💕

Omg I feel this so much! It happened to me recently and it is truly so hard & you just want that person to show up like you would but they don’t. Total frustration & hurts your heart.

they always suddenly "aren't going to have a lot of time" and the next date is an indeterminate time in the distant future maybe, and I ask to be a priority and they say no. why am I your gf then if it's going to be in name only??

If they flip it back on you, it will never get better. Communicate early and leave fast if he’s disrespectful.

That’s why if I ever date again (doubt it) I will do everything in my power to not get attached until he’s proven to me in time, long time, that he’s aligned with me. Easier to step out when you notice things that are not acceptable to you.

So sorry. 🥺 I’ve learned the hard way how important it is to value myself, and to walk from situations in which we seem to be good in person but my needs were ignored. I’ve also connected with a couple women since walking away from that relationship who just got me without having to ask, but then there were structural or capacity issues that prevented us from going further. So I know it’s out there…and that goes for you, too. He’s out there. You deserve to have your needs met in a fulfilling relationship! 🙂

I fear you believe it stays better than you think long term. As a long term married partner, I would have walked away long ago without the marriage commitment, kids etc. I can vouch for anyone I know, same. Plus all my divorced friends, same. Is this sad or just the way it is with a partner? As an avid overthinker, it depends on the day I think about it. I'm not by any means saying drop your needs and compromise...I'm saying the one side is peace but single and the other side is giving up a large part of yourself to not be single. (I hope this makes sense. I'm neither an advocate for marriage or singlehood....I have more a sociological mind frame when I look at it all).
