we have wooden houses that are 300 plus years old... homes are built based on the climate .. you don't want a brick house in a tornado or earthquake area

I would imagine it’s due to a lot of things such as USA gets tornados and stuff that could destroy them so would be easier to do a recovery on a wooden structure we don’t get that over here in England

The US Japan and Canada primarily use wood US and Japan frequently have natural disasters. Plus wooden homes are a lot easier to renovate. And the average wooden home could last 100 years unless you plan on living longer than that no need to worry about it.

We have a little thing called weather in the US. Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes etc. No one wants bricks thrown at 200 mph. It’s also significantly easier and cheaper to fix wood houses as we have tons of woodland resources.

I was shocked how cheap the houses looked in America. The older townhouses are beautiful though. Especially in New York and Chicago
