I know this is older post but had to comment about a patient I discharged once and I told him he was going to be discharged and he told me OK, he would go take his shower, so I was like ok, go ahead, came back after he was done with paperwork and he yelled at me "Are you crazy? I have to wait 4 hours for my pours to close". And he was adamant on that. I kept getting asked why he was still in room and I had to say: "Umm, well, we are waiting for the pores to close, but ETA is 4 hours!" 😅🤣😅🤣

Very well said. I once had a discharged patient refuse to leave until her favorite TV program was over at night. I appreciate your empathy
