@tittokwithemily: Ultrasound is not just for dense breast tissue alone —and it’s definitely not a replacement for a mammogram. Mammograms are the foundation of screening and the only tool proven to reduce breast cancer deaths. They detect things like calcifications that ultrasound can’t. Ultrasound is a supporting tool. It’s used to further evaluate findings, look at specific areas of concern, and sometimes supplement screening in the right patients. Using ultrasound alone can miss cancers. Adding it for everyone can lead to false positives and unnecessary biopsies. Bottom line: it’s not mammogram or ultrasound—it’s knowing when to use both, appropriately. #mammogram #breastcancer #cancertok #mastectomy #lumpectomy
What are your thoughts on Transpara? It highlighted a mass on my mammogram and radiology didn’t even mention the mass in their report. They did tell me the radiologist was leaving for Greece in an hour so I’m concerned it was just a big rush 🤦🏼♀️

Dana Sherman :
My breasts are heterogeneously dense (c), bilateral calcifications in a potentially segmental distribution remain indeterminate and require stereotactic biopsy. Both sets of calcifications are a combo of amorphous and pleomorphic. I’m scheduled for the 21st of April.

Mammo AND ultrasound missed my mom’s 7 cm ILC cancer. We should be doing MRIs for those with dense breast tissue.

I’ve had ultrasounds for years and it missed the DCIS I was just diagnosed with based off a mammogram and stereotactic biopsy. Next is MRI to make sure it’s properly mapped out because of my dense breasts, and then (hopefully) mastectomy! Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge 💕
