The name. They were inspired by the name. They know if they throw “Montessori” on it people will buy it. So you sort of answered your own question. Now, for my Reggio-inspired classroom, I will look for toys that manufacturers call “Montessori” because they are usually the wooden toys (all about natural materials) and open-ended. But I also know enough about and respect Maria Montessori enough to know that they would not fit her methods.

I am surprised melissa and doug company has not teamed up with someone certified in montessori who is widely known and respected. I know you have said some of their toys fit within the scope of montessori.

I think it’s cause there’s levels of people looking for Montessori. Some people are wanting full Montessori and some people are wanting Montessori inspired. If that makes sense like I don’t necessarily want every toy my daughter has to be Montessori, but I do like a little bit of creative play and so if it has some of that, I’m usually satisfied.

It's the same thing as when content creators use hashtags that have nothing to do with their posts. You have appropriate tags, but someone else who wants to go viral will put "Drake"..."Mackenzie Shirilla"...etc. Anything that's going to bring the post up in searches.

the first one took toys that are montessori and turned them into a game that maybe toddlers can play ? it can demonstrate the effects of multiple actions the second might be a thing that teaches about electricity ? I can't really tell which probably disqualifies it the clockxylophonedropgraden took toys that are but mashed them together added extra faces ans colors and is just overwhelming idk if it's marketed as cheap or space saving but it's overwhelming idk why they thought it would work the light up snail house is just ...no
