@firaolaliyi: Drawn from my own experience having witnessed the Karrayyu Oromo’s power transition ceremonies around Metahara more than once I carry with me the essence of a democracy rooted in tradition. Beneath open skies, the Gadaa system comes alive as elders, youth, and families gather in unity to witness a peaceful transfer of leadership. Each Baallii ritual, filled with chants, blessings, and rhythmic dance, transforms the plains into a living stage of heritage and renewal. Standing among the Karrayyu, I realized that democracy here is not written in constitutions it is lived, shared, and passed from one generation to the next with dignity and balance. Through my own eyes, I witnessed how freedom and tradition walk hand in hand across the Awash Valley timeless and deeply human.
