@doc4heart: (WATCH THE ENTIRE VIDEO AND YOU WILL KNOW MORE THAN 99% OF THE DOCTORS) As a cardiothoracic surgeon, I deal with blockages of the heart arteries on a daily basis and in today’s video I explain why measuring cholesterol alone isn’t enough and how understanding lipoproteins can save your life. Remember, it’s about the cars, not the people in the cars! #highcholesterol #heartattack #cardiovascularhealth #cardiovascular #cardiovasculardisease

CT tech here, let’s talk about calcification in arteries and how that is more damaging than cholesterol! The brain needs cholesterol.

“You can’t diet away genetics “ made me feel better. I felt so guilty for not being able to bring my cholesterol down via diet.

My endocrinologist tested for Lipoprotein a, not b. LPa came back as 20 nmol/L. What's the difference? Should I go back and ask for the b test too? Please also do a video on high triglycerides?

I have high cholesterol at 63 but I did a calcium heart scan and was near zero ? They told me I’d never need another scan. With all these heart attacks and deaths why aren’t calcium scans that take a few minutes a regular screening test ?

Thank you! If doctors would allow more than 15 minutes per patient to go over information and simply tell you based on your test results you’re within the normal range instead of giving you a full 30 minutes to go over everything and explain what it means and how it works we would all be so much healthier and wiser about our own health

Given the interplay between lipid subfractions, how do you integrate metrics like the triglyceride-to-HDL ratio or other markers in inferring LDL particle size and do you view particle size refinement as pivotal in contemporary cardiovascular risk stratification?
