@phantasticphysics: Been told lift is caused by air pressure differences, but that's a lie! The real reason? The wing pushes air DOWN, creating an equal and opposite reaction pushing the wing UP. #AviationFacts #ScienceExplained #physics #LearnOnTikTok #TikTokLearningCampaign
then you wouldn't need a curve on the top of the wing

Boy aren’t you a genius! Ask anyone that actually knows about aerodynamics, they will tell you that TWO principles provide lift! Newton and Bernoulli both affect flight. There IS suction on top of the wing. Faster equals more suction. Slower and more down wash.

Esragee :
Aircraft wing lift arises from circulation generated by angle of attack and airfoil camber, accelerating airflow over the upper surface and deflecting it downward. According to Bernoulli’s principle, increased velocity over the curved upper surface reduces static pressure, while slower flow beneath maintains higher pressure, producing a pressure differential. Simultaneously, Newton’s third law applies: the wing imparts downward momentum to the airflow (downwash), and the reaction force acts upward on the wing. The resulting lift depends on dynamic pressure (½ρV²), wing area, and lift coefficient, which varies with angle of attack, Reynolds number, and boundary layer behaviour before stall..........from an aerospace graduate 🙏

if you tape a curved (airfoil shaped) piece of paper to a table top and blow over it, it will create lift and the.piece of paper will rise.

Dr Russel :
There are two effects at play in the generation of wing lift. Wind tunnel experiments show that the flow over the upper surface is faster than predicted by Bernoulli, which generates greater lift than that predicted by Bernoulli's principle. The second relevant effect is angle of attack, which results in a net positive Newtonian lift force.

chrispm1963 :
According to Bernoulli’s principle, faster-moving air over the curved top of the wing has lower pressure than the slower air beneath it. This pressure difference produces an upward force. (There is no need for “air pockets” to meet at the end of the wing)
At the same time, by Newton’s third law of motion, the wing pushes air downward, and the air pushes the wing upward with an equal and opposite force.
Additionally, conservation of momentum explains that deflecting air downward requires a force, which manifests as lift on the wing.

well, someone taught you incorrectly as well. it's both. your explanation accounts for roughly 75% of generated lift, while the Bernoulli effect makes up the difference.

your hypothesis doesn't explain how a stall occurs on a wing. Bernoulii's principle does: High angle of attack, turbulent airflow over the top surface, no diff pressure as there is when airflow is laminar over both top and bottom.

Doesn’t really make any sense given that wings need a specific shape in order to work. With your explanation, any old surface would work— but they don’t. The shape matters because managing the airflow matters.
