“Learn to fire fast” 🤣 as if the problem isn’t that people are legally protected and it’s very difficult to fire anyone fast in most settings. Theres a process and it’s often long as you must show reasonable attempt to get them to standard.

we have a 90-day probationary period where I work. it is their training period. if they are not meeting goals and expectations about every two weeks I will sit down and talk with them and see where they're at and look for ways to help them improve but if they have not improved to expectation within 90 days then I will let them go. I've had to do that a few times, not much but a few times.

My job has a policy where they can’t fire someone for no reason. Even if they just stand around. Or don’t put effort in. They have to have conversations and stuff with them documented before they can fire them

Its not ego, its common decency As soon as you said that person had a job with you, they made changes in their lives to accommodate you. You may need to fire them, but you should do everything you can to prevent that.
