@calvalynday: Hopefully this wasn’t too spicy. But this industry needs to stop trying to shame or vilify people who are trying to do things differently. 20 years ago, everybody thought that getting on insurance was the best path towards a sustainable private practice. And it was. At that time. But now with the insurance companies who won’t raise their rates and who have given all of their customers these huge deductibles while simultaneously forcing you to comply with all their rules and regulations, it’s just as much of a headache as it is a benefit. So you might end up having to do it differently and this type of work is one option. It’s not the option for everyone, so let me make that clear. But it is an option that can work. So what do you think?
Here’s what I know. My insurance rates are actually pretty good because I’ve had my contracts for 10 years, and I request rate increases every 6 months. I have more clients than I need or want, and I put zero time into getting those clients. When I see people out running concierge practice, I see them putting hours into marketing and networking to get clients. When I calculate the hours that goes into that—they are making less money than I am. She’s right about platforms. Just get credentialed with companies that pay the highest, and request rate increases regularly.

Destiny M., Therapist :
What I said was sw concierge wasn’t sustainable. I NEVER mentioned therapy bc I know that a sustainable model can be built for someone who is independently licensed. Telling a lmsw they can do concierge work in the way it’s being presented to lmsws and sw that are not independently licensed is not fair. From 2023-2025 I’ve made 1.2 million dollars; I know how to build a sustainable model. If you’d like we can go offline to look at mt

Came from Destiny’s video. This clarification is helpful as well. I didn’t know group practices could do it . I’ve heard of individuals marketing it here in Texas at a BSW/MSW level, that service though to help with placement. I learned something new for us as social workers everyday, I love that for us all !

I’m having a hard time imagining what services are provided in concierge social work. Are you able to speak to what a session looks like, what is offered in those sessions?

So I’m starting this business up, but I was looking at going cash pay only . Help me explain how you do this and provide it through insurance. Happy to have a one-on-one with you. I’m very interested.

Thank you for saying that, because what works for some doesn’t have to work for others. In the words of my granny, “ haters gone hate”.
