@thebudgetmom: I used to be afraid of payday. One, because I had no clear direction, and to be honest, I knew most of it was gone before it even hit my account. Two, because I always felt like I was just reacting. No clear direction, not really sure what to do besides just paying my bills. Today, years and years later, payday feels completely different. I have a payday routine that gives me direction, ensures I hit the financial goals that matter to me, and takes away any anxiety or fear. Having a plan before I receive my paycheck also allows me to step away, worry less, and money no longer consumes my entire day or mind. I have learned over the years that it’s not just what you do on payday, it’s the decisions you make before the money even arrives. You are in control. You stay consistent. You no longer have to wonder where it all went. I do the same thing every time I get paid. These steps have personally helped me with different fears, made me feel like I am succeeding, and made me feel in control of my money.
