@oceanacanada: Scientists captured underwater footage of a Greenland shark in Arctic waters off the coast of Canada, offering a rare glimpse into their world.   Greenland sharks belong to the family Somniodae, known as the sleeper shark because they grow slowly and have low activity levels. The oldest Greenland shark studied is estimated to have lived nearly 400 years, making the species the longest-lived vertebrate. Greenland sharks are still poorly understood. There is a lot for us to learn about this species and how they’re affected by threats such as climate change and fishing. #marinelife #species
