for every generation before this one, expensive meant more functions, firmer wood, richer colour, engravings/details, expensive metals. the cheap was just slightly softer wood with less details. now, both the cheap and the expensive are made of cardboard and prayers and the ONLY difference is theres a name written on the expensive one. I fucking hate this.

It's literally because we're running out of wood and most fo the wood we have left for furniture is much weaker because it's harvested from much younger trees

I have a kitchen table I bought from Walmart in 2010 that we still use everyday. It cost me $200 then which was CRAZY expensive for Walmart furniture then. It’s solid wood. I’ve even sanded and restained it.
