@wbztv: The WBZ I-Team has uncovered a no-bid contract for an MBTA consultant who collected nearly three quarters of a million dollars in public funds working almost exclusively from his home in South Carolina. James "Rod" Brooks was hired as a consultant for the T in 2023. At the time, he got a one-year no-bid contract. Nearly three years later he's still getting paid. So he made $237k per year... Phil Eng makes $500k per year. I also don't see the problem with remote work. Why are you targeting him?

This sounds like a non-story. I don't think people here understand how consultants and contractors work.

$237K for a remote job is not that crazy with the right technical degree and skill set. If he is getting the job done I don’t see what the issue is

I don’t think most people have any idea how much their company spends on consultants. I’ve seen organizations where 20 to 30% of their operating expenses were consultant fees.

I'd love to why and what he's doing, him being remote doesn't necessarily mean a scandal depending on his role and expertise

This reminds me of the no show union jobs with the Italian mafia. Massachusetts is corrupt.

Love or hate Pete Hegseth, he has put a stop to most contracts that are of a consultant nature. Contracts must meet a high standard in order to be approved. In all my years as a contractor, I’ve never seen this level of accountability.
