@innerworldtherapy: ** If your child plays in this way, it doesn’t necessarily mean they have trauma! Here are some ways children with trauma can show up in the play room with the play therapist. Many children won’t tell us directly about their trauma or talk about it explicitly, and they don’t need to. They will show us with their behavior and play what they need to work through, process, and work on with us as therapists. If a child is particularly stuck in trauma memories, sometimes EMDR is recommended. However, play therapy on its own as well as an attuned play therapist can help healing. My 11 month old is extremely startled by any sudden noise or movement. I would say more than her peers, this is something I should get evaluated or bring up to her pediatrician?

Would there be a reason a play therapist would go over your birth with the child in the parent consultation? We just started with my 6 year old. He just started showing signs of needing it in the past year or less. So I guess I’m kind of confused. And maybe a little sensitive.

is it normal for kids to stash or hide random things? we dont get mad or make a big deal out of it. I just lose things and think its me then find random things like a portable music speaker in a puzzle box lol

This is really helpful. Is it common for kids to like idolize new people when they have complex trauma ?

at our homeachool co op a few weeks ago my 11 year old and his friend were playing "bad dads". they were playing with the baby dolls and doing everything they could think that was bad. putting baby on top of the car, feeding baby cat food, leaving baby outside. they thought it was so funny. I am only mildly concerned lol

My child keeps imitating cops. Like saying things like your a bad dad. You are going to jail. I’m calling the cops. Is that normal? She’s 3 and a half
