The “just adopt” response is also stupid because the father also has parental rights and that can interfere with the ability to have the baby adopted. Not saying it’s impossible to put a baby up for adoption without the father also giving up parental rights, but it can be a barrier they never consider

In TN, if a child is born within 300 days of the finalization of a divorce, the ex-husband is the legal parent of that child, regardless of whether or that that ex is the biological parent 😬😬😬 As an unmarried woman, I had to sign an affidavit stating that I had not been divorced within 300 days, and if I had, I was required to list the ex-husband’s name and information for the hospital to contact him.

I’m in a duedate group where her ex SA’d her and got her pregnant, meaning she can’t divorce him while pregnant, meaning she can’t get on Medicaid (after he kicked her off their health insurance), and she can’t get an abortion. It’s horrendous

These people flat out don't realize that abusers have custody of children. Rapists have custody of their rape children! Fun fact my friend almost got in legal trouble for denying "him" one on one time with his child. The only reason she didn't get in trouble is because he refused to go to drug tests, yk, bc he was on drugs. He even tried to fight for full custody at one point. She literally came home to her brand new apartment while he wasn't supposed to know where she was and was supposed to be in jail and he was passed out on her couch! She left home because this man was selling her mother drugs.. To this day she still kind of has mixed feelings on actually having her daughter. Her first experience was actually so bad she didn't put her second baby daddy on the birth certificate.

also adoption can lead to the child still ending up in a similar situation like that. (ask me how I know) no system is perfect but abortion at least gave that woman a choice, and if she could have gotten one maybe she could have gotten out
