So the role of progesterone is to prevent/delay your uterine lining from shedding:) however, it can also delay/prevent ovulation! So you def wanna take it post ovulation, usually doctors say 3dpo to be safe. This is usually to support a full healthy luteal phase (insufficient progesterone can manifest as “luteal phase defect” or basically having a short luteal phase). A sufficient luteal phase is important so the potential zygote has a chance to properly implant (usually 6-10dpo) but if you have low progesterone and your uterine lining starts shedding early, zygote cant implant. My doctor told me to continue progesterone once i got a positive and all the way thru the first trimester:) I would def recommend calling them because usually oral progesterone is less effective and they want you to take it as a suppository:) (although pharmacies will typically still put oral on the bottle)!

I miscarried due to my body not producing progesterone. I was prescribed progesterone and was told to take it post trying to convince and I’m now 11 weeks 4 days and I continue to take it until I hit the second trimester.

I have to take it to get rid of some precancerous cells for 3 months so my reasoning may be different (right now bc also going through infertility) but I take mine at night because I’ve heard it makes you sleepy. And I take 4 pills daily
