OK HUGE LORE PLAYER HERE!! You’re absolutely right with the rewrite on Columbina, and its even more evident when you look at previous information given in the text thats a bit harder to locate. One such example is a note (Found in Sumeru or Fontaine, I think?) mentioning that someone once approached her as she was singing by a fountain and believed her harmless, yet goes on to say that they were solely mistaken, and “she is the very opposite of harmless”, also in this note (or a dif one?) states that “if you see her or hear her singing, run the other way.”

columbina has always had the same story lol weve had hints of her story back in 1.0 and a direct reference to it in simulanka, there’s so much foreshadowing to her moon goddess storyline and there’s absolutely no way they could rewrite both the 4th moon and the 3rd fatui harbinger at the same time 😭😭 columbina IS tied to seraphims because she’s a moon goddess LOL all of the moon goddesses are seraphims by definition as they serve under the hand of nibelung. both childe and wanderer’s voicelines both still pertain to columbina, childe is scared of her because shes an innocent looking girl with immense power, scara states that she is oblivious and unfeeling (which she still is) and that if the time came to fight her, he would easily be able to challenger her but traveler (with their moral compass) would not be able to even try. columbina was mismarketed to the community and if u want to be upset about that you have every right to be but let’s not act like she’s rewritten because “her outfit doesn’t make sense” LMAOOO

I feel like she wasn’t even supposed to be in Nod Krai at first, hoyo just added her because they needed a character that brought attention to the region, and columbina was the most hyped character. That also explains the sudden reveals of many lore important characters like Alice Varka and Nicole all at once. Columbina didn’t need a rewrite to be honest, and could’ve simply been introduced in nod Krai as an npc, she would’ve brought attention equally, but hoyo is purely money hungry and doesn’t care about the story anymore

i think her original story was going to involve her being a "fallen angel" of sorts that was for some reason aiding Dottore with his plans. Maybe the plan always was to redeem her but I don't think her personality was always as sweet

Her design also screams unfinished to me. Seraphim wings, angelic motifs and the moon? DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. It was such an obvious panic move on their part when they were ordered to create filler region so they can postpone the Cryo nation for another year.

thing is half the lore in this game has been rewritten and or retconned. as a lore player who has been playing since 1.0, there a lot that has been just changed/ contradicts lore from the beginning of the game. it's genuinely disappointing as someone who's very interested in the lore. it's clear they don't have a solid plan for the story
