When we first brought Phoenix home, her baths looked nothing like this. She was emaciated, neglected, and completely matted; her coat felt like straw from surviving on the streets. Her teeth were in bad condition and covered in bright orange plaque from eating whatever she could find just to stay alive. And after a botched spay at the shelter that nearly took her life, she came home not just physically fragile, but carrying the weight of everything she had been through.
