If the order did not include them, the State needs to address their error. Take it before the original judge and have them order the State to fix their error.

In my opinion Jen l think you should at the very least, talk to a lawyer. I believe you are being targeted because of your past. And the fact that you paid the 70 thousand off quicker than they thought possible. To answer your question, no l don’t think you’re the a**hole at all. Hang in there girl, as smart as you are. There’s no doubt you’ll get it all figured out.

You shouldn’t feel guilty - you served your sentence and paid your restitutions. The court making a mistake isn’t something you should feel bad about. Get a lawyer, have them fix it. Don’t pay money you don’t owe.

Such a dilemma… yes 14K is a lot but a lawyer’s retainer is probably 10K… in the meantime get an estate planner to put all your assets into a trust.

Ask for a payment ledger/history of your payments you made for restitution. Written confirmation they committed an error (get a copy of your original order for restitution) and then if they don’t fix it file a motion to correct clerical error.

Nope you did the time and did what you were ordered too. They messed up and they should have to fix it. But you would have to see how much the lawyer would cost.

if you pay more money they will continue to give it to the wrong people until they are whole leaving the people you were ordered to pay owing a balance. meaning this can turn into a much bigger amount than 14k. get an attorney
