I door knocked for Al Franken. You forgot to mention Paul’s legacy at St Olaf. Unconventional professor too

Mr. Walz was my teacher. When the Wellstones died, they announced it over the loud speaker at school. We had a lot of powerhouse Social Studies teachers at West, so we understood the gravity of what had happened. I am so grateful Mr. Walz found his way to Camp Wellstone, and that our state is what it is. 💖

We remember Paul Wellstone well! My sister was a part of his staff. Imagine how MN would be like if he was still around.

I’m a former staffer. Paul & Sheila were genuinely kind & caring. The last time that I saw them was at the MN State Fair. They were excited for me as I was pregnant with my first child. I was on the stage for their memorial service. I have many great memories of Paul. 💚

I feel so honored to have received the Paul and Shelia Wellstone Public Health Achievement Award from the Minnesota Public Health Association. He was an amazing man.

I live in North Dakota, & Im now 52yrs old, when Paul Welstone, his family, & everyone in that plane, passed, that ripped my heart apart. To this day, he is pretty much the only politician, that I have ever truly believed in his truth.

I remember the day as well— was teaching and the principal came around to tell everyone- instant tears— miss him— love that you shared the Walz and Flannigan connection— miss him - miss him - miss him — my connection is I saw him at the airport drop off —I was dripping off a friend and Wellstone was being dropped off as well… I yelled hey Paul— he truly made eye contact and smiled and connected with myself and my friend for a minute … lovey core memory . Thank you for sharing

Wow—what a special thing your mom shared with you! I was living in Dallas then—I remember the crash. I was so, so happy to see the green Wellstone sign last Saturday at the No Kings rally in Saint Paul.

I was a Wellstone volunteer in 1996, I was a senior in high school. I turned 18, 5 days before election day. It will always be one of my proudest things I've done, is vote for Paul Wellstone. And I still have my campaign t-shirt he signed on the back.

As a youth, Paul Wheelstone inspired me in so many ways. I’ve volunteered for his campaign. And I also cried the day he died – a lot. Something that tells you what kind of person he is: in the fall of 2001 I was playing for an environmental grant writers event in northern Minnesota. Let’s just say they were not my best audience. Paul came up to speak and told me “This can be a tough room”.

My Grandma and my Aunt saw Senator Wellstone at the Farmers Market in Downtown St. Paul… my aunt walked up to him and told him that her mom had a joke to tell him, so he followed her to where my grandma was so she could tell him the joke.

I was an intern for Jim Oberstar but mostly focused on Wellstones campaign. (Oberstar just had the money to pay me a tiny bit). I worked with the woman who was waiting at the airport to pick him up. I was 18 and couldn’t stop crying for days.
