Honestly, they should have a sensor for weight on them things so don’t really blame them that much specially being a parent you can’t control what your child does all the time especially if you’re distracted however, the people that put those things in place should have proper safety mechanisms in case this ever happens

As a controls engineer, I can't imagine not having sensors on the gate for this exact reason. We build equipment designed to be operated by only adults in a controlled setting with better safety than that gate.
