I'm not sure about everybody else but the hot water from inside my hot water heater doesn't taste great. so I'm going to go ahead and boil a kettle. maybe let it cool down for 30 seconds and then use that water.

Do not use hot tap water. The principal is right, but get your slightly warm water by heating cold water. Hot tap water comes from your hot water heating tank, and there can be a lot of not safe things.
