I completed a half the day after I signed up. Hadn’t run in well over 6 months. Didn’t die and was closeish to the finish time I was aiming for lol

🙋♀️🙋♀️I just did my fist half marathon. I started about 4-5 weeks before a half marathon 😬.I definitely procrastinated and at that point my goal was to just finish. I focused on running at a pace I was comfortable at and increasing distance.

I LOVE that you've committed to a half! Read the book Run Less, Run Faster. While there are some things in this book that have been disputed, I used this method a lot when training for my half back in the day and it worked pretty well! That being said, what are you goals? A finish of a half can absolutely be done in 8 wks, but aiming for specific times might not. So stoked for you though! I'd love to hear more about how your experience goes! 💖

I was too anxious to procrastinate!
but I did hear from others runners that if you can train up to 8 miles, you'll be good to go. this was NOT MY truth, but it could be yours? lol
I think a HUGE thing for me was ensuring I learned to fuel & hydrate properly.

go to roadrunner sports and have them fit you for the correct shoes. IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Definitely add mobility and strength. If you can do a 9-10 mile long run ahead of time adrenaline can help you with the last bit on race day. But strength and mobility will help with injury prevention as you build quickly!

I procrastinated all week! But I don’t start training for my first half until September and it’s been a busy week.. and I ate like crap for my birthday.. locking back in..

Use the Nike Run Club app and put in your race date, it will adjust the training plan to 8 weeks. Following a structured plan like this is your best bet, you’ll do great!

My boyfriend and I procrastinated for our half next weekend. We busted out a 10 mile run two weeks ago, hopefully it’s enough😅

You’re not alone- this is the Story of my life 😅 just try to keep a healthy training momentum without overdoing it, listen to your body! when I take too long to train my goal is to avoid developing any injury knowing I’ll be pushing myself for those upcoming weeks. You got this 👏🏽💪🏽

Slow & Steady. See how long you can run before how far. The distance will come after with time. 😉

I had to cram 4 weeks in because before I was not in a good place health wise to do anything but I did it! It wasn’t timed so I walked some but you can totally do it in 8 weeks! You got this! Just do as much as you can without killing yourself. Foam rolling and mobility mixed with strength training too, don’t skip that. At least 3 days of mobility/ strength training and on rest day, do yoga, heat and really relax because those days are KEY. You GOT this🔥
