Now, before anyone comes for me – YES, this is a generalisation. But in my experience, mums usually know way more about their child’s health, and that speaks volumes about the mental load they carry as primary caregivers. 👩‍⚕️ What’s REALLY helpful when bringing your child to the doctor? ✅ Names & doses of medications/vitamins (pls don’t just say “the pink one”💊😂) ✅ Pictures/videos of wat’s concerning you (rashes, changes in poo, abnormal movement) ✅ Prescriptions or medicine packaging (so I don’t have to play detective) ✅ Healthcare record (red book, any letters from professionals, school reports) ✅ A list of questions for me! (write them down and put a reminder on phone to ask) ✅ What’s worked & what hasn’t (Paracetamol? Antihistamines? Magic kisses?🤷🏽‍♀️) ✅ Change of clothes, snacks, activities (You’ll be here for a while, pls come prepared!) 🚫 What’s NOT helpful? ❌ Bringing in a soiled nappy to show me the contents 🫠 (A photo will do, I promise) ❌Telling your child “The doctor will give you an injection if you don’t behave” (Now they’re terrified, and I’m the bad guy! 😩) ❌ The classic “My partner knows all this, I’ll just call them” (We love teamwork, but coming prepared saves time!) Have you got any tips for parents? Anything I missed out? Share them in the comments? 💬 Tag a parent who needs to see this! Mums, Dads – who’s the “organised” one in your house? 😂 Let me know in the comments! ⬇️ #ParentingHumour #MumsVsDads #DoctorsOfficeFails #ParentLife #MentalLoad #KnowBeforeYouGo
