Not necessary. USA is a major consuming country. Factories in exporting countries would close down. People there lose jobs and no purchasing power to take up the unsold exports. Global economy will be affected. It will take time for American consuming power to shift to other regions.

the idea of usa exceptional ism is completely founded on the dollar being the reserve currency. the perks this gave the usa after ww2 was interpreted by Americans by exceptionalism. in reality it was just prefered status in the world. once that status fades, so will the exceptionalism.
