I believe it was centred around empathy. At the beginning, he says that the thing he loves the most about Emma is her empathy. And for the whole movie he desperately tries to emphatize with her but it doesn’t come natural to him. I think the cheating at the end was crucial for the plot because he finally did something he regretted and that made him understand Emma. I think it could’ve been explored a little bit more but that’s what stuck with me through the whole movie

I mean he should have have more faith in her and not listen too others because he was the one who know Emma the best and got chance to experience her every dimension. he should know that Emma is not the same person she was at that time anymore. loved this movie. really deserves a second watch just to unpack everything. it really goes to show as to where morality stands for all of us, how we all cope in different ways, and the importance of how much you’d stay with your partner despite knowing the darkest things they’ve done

For me it was him, seeing her as a „concept” not a real person, he never tried to truly get to know her and they even started with a „lie”. He only wanted her to feel better not to actually see her. He never truly saw her. And on the other hand she also saw in him what she wanted. It shows to me that we project things onto each other in relationships and it’s all our choices, and lack of communication and so many what ifs, he didn’t want to marry her but then he almost cheated and was like okey now I want to get through bc he was afraid of what he could have become and then he was only afraid he would loose her and this is what made him stay not real things. They will divorce at one point for sure. Or their whole life they will have those obstacles.

I think everyone over exaggerated it. In all the past clips, there was not ONE scene with either parent, and that may have caused her to fall into this depressive state. When Charlie found out he should’ve instead asked her if her needed any help to heal from that. I get the initial shock but he was doing too much

Love this take so much. Emma was the most empathetic forgiving person in the end. So interesting to see how the real villains of the movie were “normalized”.
