@usmc_commandant: Every Marine has a shared mission, to take care of each other. Semper Fi means we never leave a Marine behind, on the battlefield or in life. This is who we are. This is what we do. To every Marine, past and present, and to all who support us: thank you for living the brotherhood. Oorah. #USMC #Marines #SemperFi #MarineCorps #military
they’re saying this but my chain of command couldn’t care less about my well being

If this was the reality of the entire usmc you’d stop having to sign letters. As much as you’re tired of signing them I think a lot of marines past and present are tired of getting a call or seeing a facebook post that another friend is gone. The leadership still looks down on mental health because we are supposed to be these super humans that we aren’t. I truly hope this image can change for the better. The usmc truly would be stronger if we took care of our marines. I’m always open for a conversation and solution.

They say this but, be honest my leadership couldn’t give a fuck bro. The mission is more important than what I got going on. And most of the time my leadership makes it worse

You are great guys and as far as leaders go, the best I’ve seen. Reality is the ones under you don’t care about the people. There’s a difference between being treated like an adult and being treated inferior. Let’s be honest. I was in. Loved it. Was treated that way by a few. My son is in and is treated terribly by his NCO’s. He wants out because he sees through the talk. He sees the action. He’s currently at Fort Leonardwood waiting for his early separation. He’s a damn good jr Marine but just like me, sees there’s no future in the corps if you have to live through what they do on a regular basis. I get the paying your dues thing. I did it. You are all my brothers. If all NCO’s shared your values, the Corps would be better than ever. I worry about my son’s mental health there. His feeling is not one of a team. It’s one of just a number. A necessary evil to get past if you will. I have nothing but respect for both of you but can you please expedite my son’s situation. He’s ready to move on to better things and I can’t blame him. Semper Fi brothers.

We are afraid to ask for help. We get judged by our peers and by the SNCO’s. It’s sad. Marines Corps needs help on a broader level

“ we take care of our own” but my leadership at MACS4 threw me in the gutter once i decided not to go to my Advanced school during my first child birth.

Many join the military because they have a rough home life and some of those need help with life from day one of their military journey.

I am truly grateful that we have a Commandant and a SMMC like these two gentlemen. Unfortunately, this is not the case at the battalion, company, and platoon level. For some reason, everyone is expected to put all of their problems aside for mission success. And yes, that is necessary at times. But how long can one do that? One month? 6 months? One year? A full contract? What this organization needs is empathy at the NCO level. The whole organization is run on NCOs, why not that? Just my two cents.
