In UK I once waited 18 months for an appointment only to be told to take paracetamol. Ended up going private, and ultimately saved my eyesight with that decision as it turned out it was neuritis (nerve inflammation).

FYI in the US the average insurance premium may be $25,000 but your employer covers significant amount of it. So for a family you will end up paying about $2000 a year.

So jealous. My UK insurance for the family is £6kpa. Without that we’d be lost. NHS or regular GP’s are just impossible as the system doesn’t connect properly
