@leftymaker: Many batteries have a 5- or 6-digit number printed on them, and it's good to know what it means. The number represents the physical dimensions of the cell: thickness, width, and height. There isn't a strict rule as to how dimensions are represented, but in the case of an 18650 battery, the numbers mean 18mm width and 65.0mm length. Keep in mind these numbers may not be accurate. The real dimensions may be off by a millimeter or more, so always confirm a battery cell's exact size before you make an enclosure for it. Also, be careful if you're using metal calipers like mine -- they are pointy and conductive. Be careful not to puncture the cell, do not press too firmly, and avoid shorting its terminals.
