If they settled for 25k they were never expecting 650k. They were likely just trying to get the max from insurance, but that's kinda confusing cause they could have gotten more from the insurance.

Personal injury attorney here! You should be mad at your insurance company. They have a duty to settle claims against you within the policy. If they refuse to do that and you get sued, the insurance company has to appoint lawyers to you at no charge to you. It sounds like all the injured person’s lawyer was trying to get was the full policy of $25k. If your insurance decided to pay it you wouldn’t have needed to get dragged through litigation. Usually litigation ensues because an insurance company cares more about its own bottom line than its insured.

Im a bodily injury adjuster and rear ends are the easiest claims for attorneys to litigate. 25k is not that bad tbh I handle the downstate NY area and we regularly have to pay big bucks because the attorneys, doctors, imaging places and PT places all work together.

In Canada our insurance company handles all lawsuits pertaining a vehicle or motorcycle etc. that sucks that they don’t do that in USA 😳
