@obesitydrdannak: Replying to @maddiesglp1 Your GLP1 stops making you feel full over time, but still keeps your blood sugar in check + other benefits remain long-term 🧠💉 Here’s why: your stomach and hunger nerves get used to the drug fast, so the “I’m stuffed” signal fades. Whose noticed this happen to them? ⬇️

2 months on. Daily nausea. But worse part is lack of desires. Not just food. I’m lethargic and don’t want to do anything except lay around.

I'm glad my appetite has returned. I missed it. But now I have the ability to make better food choices.

Two years in. I can eat a lot more now. I would say fairly close to what a normal person eats? Not nearly what I ate before before but pretty close to what normal people eat. But I don’t gain weight and I’ve even slowly lost another 8lbs over the last year in maintenance. I don’t understand it but 🤷‍♀️

I have been taking glp for 3.5 years. I started seeing less satiety about 2.5 years in. i have held steady on my weight for 3 years, so it isn't a big deal

I’ve been on it a year and maintained for 6 months. I have a good appetite and do have cravings but it is different than before I started the med. I feel like I am in control. I can enjoy food but know when to say when.

Just under a year and yes, I’m super hungry now. I’m still losing because I’ve changed my habits and it helped me do that but I sooo miss the earlier feelings.

On Mounjaro for 14 mos, about 5 lbs from goal. I love getting true hunger cues and being able to distinguish from food noise. This tool has helped me to implement all the other healthy habits. Truly living my best life ❤️

I’ve never lost my appetite on GLP1, and I’ve been on it for almost 7 months. I’ve lost an average of 1 lb per week, I enjoy my food, I have a weekly day off (the day before my next shot), I get my regular cravings. Some people would call me a slow responder but this isn’t a race and I’m not in a competition to lose as much weight as fast as possible. The thing that has impacted me the most is that the cravings don’t control me, I get to choose whether or not I want to eat it. Most of the time, I CHOOSE protein and healthy fats over sugary or carby treats.

Dr. Danna, love you content! Does this mean after that fades overeating may resume? Or do the other benefits help control some of that?😔. I’ve really. Im enjoying the freedom from the food noise.

Thank you for saying this. I kept asking my provider what’s actually realistic to expect on this medication, because I don’t think people talk enough about the real, day-to-day effects of a GLP-1. I’ve also been struggling with habits. It reminds me of when I quit smoking— even now, 13 years later, I’ll sometimes finish a meal and think, “oh, I need a smoke.” That’s how strong habits can be. So it’s been hard at times to separate what’s the medication and what’s just deeply ingrained behavior.
