do not put anything over top of your unit. if it could handle a mesh screen, it would have come equipped with one. MEP Engineer here.

Two things I’ve recently learned from Tik tok, clean your coil condensers on hvac and you have to empty the lent from the dryer

Was always told to not cover the top with anything. Despite it being mesh it’ll still have to work harder than usual. Is that true?

You don’t get leaves out for air flow it has nothing to do with that it’s so your compressor doesn’t rot out from the leaves blocking the drain holes at the bottom coils are the air flow part keep coils clean so the compressor doesn’t overheat but a garden hose works just fine to do this if you use a coil cleaner make sure you rinse it off so you don’t accidentally get a leak in the coil from the chemicals sitting to long

The hardest part is putting everything back. Like the top lid won’t line up with the side, next thing you know it gets frustrated. Lol

when using coil cleaner on condensing coils you need to rinse it off!! I know many coil cleaners may say no rinse required. but i am an hvac tech, you need to rinse it.. which must be done carefully to not lay the fins over.
