I found my rescue pup’s bio brother 6 years later at the same shelter I had adopted my boy from. Essentially it was a litter of 8, I adopted 1, and the rest went to other homes. Six years later I was driving past the shelter - which is hours from my home - and decided to stop in and make a donation. I had my dog with me because we were on a roadtrip. I started looking at the dogs in the shelter to determine which one I would sponsor and there was my dog’s brother, from the same original litter. I couldn’t leave him so I left with an extra dog that day. The shelter even verified that they had sequential chip numbers (meaning chipped the same day at the same time) and were both part of the “lakes” litter that had been there in February 2004. My original dog had been named after lake Beverly (changed to Bear) and the one in the shelter had been named after lake Cavenaugh (I named him Riley).

Reading their body language, I think Aspen (the smaller one?) is not enjoying this-- running away, tail tucked at times, etc. Please give her a safe space where she can meet her brother without his chasing her. Beautiful, beautiful dogs, and bless you both for giving them loving homes! 🤗🐾🖖
