There are different types. Me personally I am faithful and not religious. I believe in the kindness and goodness of Jesus. I have my own personal relationship with god that leads me to help all people and care for all people. The Bible was written by a man so I truly don’t believe many things in it are of god, but may ideals I faithfully feel are of Jesus. Many people are non-denominational in that way. At the end of the day, believing in a religion is based on faith. There is no rhyme or reason in which way to believe, you’ll lose your mind trying to figure it out because everyone is different and everyone follows faith in a different way, whether it’s right or wrong.

As someone who goes to a nondenominational church I agree with some of your characterization of the people who attend that church but the idea itself doenst necessarily mean a lack of understanding of religion some of the most fantastic and understanding Christians I know are nondenom (I know plenty of fantastic orthodox ones as well) and while they don’t participate in the rigid rituals of other denominations they have a clear understanding of the teachings of Christ and strive to implement that into their lives loving your neighbor, exhibiting grace, love trumping all and honestly if you’re earnestly pursuing that everything else fails in comparison to that. Rituals are so important in regards to building intimacy and connection with God but it’s also something you can’t force

For me, it’s always why not just be a good person for yourself? Seems like a lot of people devalue themselves and others giving themselves up to Christ.

I’m leaning towards progressive Christianity bc I don’t think most of the stories are literal, but I do find validness and importance in them by diving deep. I’m only in Exodus because I’m breaking down every verse and journaling. Episcopals and Methodists are refreshing and have made me really realize it’s people, not Jesus that makes Christianity hateful.
