@🐆: @lmeorome: Phone Addiction: Its Effects on Students
Throughout history humans have made many different inventions like the wheel, light bulb, vehicles, guns, and our main focus is the invention of cellular phones. A cellular phone is device with access to a cellular radio system so it can be used over a wide area, without a physical connection to a network. Cellular phones can be used for communication, research, education etc... But it can also be used negatively and can have serious effects on it's users and other people.
Phone addiction in students is the compulsive, excessive, and uncontrollable use of mobile devices, leading to impaired daily functioning, reduced academic performance, and, in some cases, anxiety or depression. Symptoms include constant checking, anxiety without the phone (NOMOPHOBIA), and replacing sleep/study with screen time. It can be solved by setting strict app time limits, creating phone-free zones, turning off notifications, using grayscale, and encouraging alternative offline hobbies.
This can be solved through different methods. Some of these are Digital boundaries: Implement app time limits and delete addictive, non-essential apps. Another, Notification Control: Turn off push notifications and utilize "Do Not Disturb" modes to prevent constant interruption. And another, Physical Distancing: Designate phone-free zones, such as the bedroom at night or the dining table. Furthermore, Engage in Offline Hobbies: Encourage activities like sports, reading, or face-to-face social interaction to fill the time previously spent on the device.
To sum all that have been stated, phone's are useful and can be used to our advantage. But when abused it can lead to addiction that can lead to harm. That's why students should practice discipline and be better stewards of their cellular phones.
