For a long time I tried to figure out why I felt so connected to both Galinda & Elphaba then one day I realized Galinda speaks to the little girl who was always surrounded by “friends” but never really felt seen or like they really liked me, just the idea. The people pleaser who wanted so much to be truly liked without playing a part. Elphaba speaks to adult me who had to learn to stop people pleasing, had to learn to walk away and let people call me the Villain. The version of me who realized I had to save myself because no one else was coming

I think the whole second film captured her decent into a life of being loved by the people but having to live without the people she truly loved. It showed her isolation, her loneliness, but it also showed her strength in the end, doing what was right for the citizens of oz and trying to be good. I think Ariana captured her loneliness so effortlessly
