For decades, serious competitors have walked through the doors of Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym while preparing for the biggest stages in the sport. Founded by Bev Francis and Steve Weinberger, the gym started as a small warehouse and slowly became known as the East Coast Mecca of bodybuilding. From the NPC era of the 90s to today’s Olympia contenders, generations of athletes have trained inside the same walls. Dorian Yates, Flex Lewis, Chris Bumstead…basically if there is a bodybuilding show in New York, that’s where top athletes will train. I had the opportunity to go there in February 2025, and it was nothing short of sick! Old school, high level athletes and deep bodybuilding roots. Every area has its legendary gym. Gold’s Venice.
