@haley.mccartney: moral of the story is I live with permanent consequences of trying to be as small as possible and I’m here to tell you it’s JUST NOT WORTH IT #guthealth #strengthtraining #womenshealth #wellness
Just as a PSA ulcerative colitis is not caused by underrating or eating the wrong things. Colitis and Crohn’s are autoimmune diseases triggers by different environmental factors and foods. Super important to fuel your body but also super important to understand the way your body functions with disease, just don’t want people getting the wrong idea of the cause of the disease

The decisions we make as young women regarding how we fuel ourselves can truly affect our quality of life for years on end. It impacts everything; fertility, social life, mental health, etc. I wish I watched something like this five years ago. Putting the pieces back together is HARD.

I recently was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I have lost so much weight bc of it. I am TIRED of people commenting how thin I am 😭 it can be so exhausting when you’re trying to heal yourself but continue to hear people that have no idea comment on your appearance.

For what it’s worth as a fellow UC girly with no colon now - you did not give yourself UC. Obviously you know this, but UC is a disease of your immune system not your gut actually. That being said, my initial GI told me my diet wouldn’t impact flares and he was definitely wrong. Of course it can’t cure it but I wish I had changed course before my colon rupture. “Gut health” has become such a money making buzz word, so this real life example of why it matters is so important.
