@elaina.baliner: stretchy flexy body info pt 2- why hypermobility is the perfect storm for nervous system dysregulation #somatichealing #nervoussystemregulation #chronictension #hypermobility #collagen
I have a question, Does muscle play a roll in how hypermobile you can be? A little backstory, I was a gymnast for 12 years and I could never do the splits no matter how hard I trained them. I was always the least flexible person but I was a powerhouse so to say and hypermobile in other random joints like my fingers and wrists and ankles and toes. Also got a lot of comments on how long my arms and fingers are But now that I am 30 years old I can all of a sudden like put my foot behind my head. With zero stretching over the last 10 years. I could never do that when I was super in shape. I've been in Physical Therapy six times in the past four years for my back pain and I've seen multiple specialists and have had all of the MRIs and x-rays of my spine and have a lot of findings like multiple bulge discs and arthritis throughout my entire spine with scoliosis but nothing so severe that explains how much pain I'm in. When I ask about hypermobility to my doctors they shrug it off. I did the beighton score on myself and I check all of the boxes besides having an echocardiogram. I've had so many EKGs that I can't even count because of panic attacks and fainting but they never did an echocardiogram. I asked my doctor to give me a referral for somebody that can check me for pots and he just booked me for my next appointment and said we'll discuss that later on.

This incredible information. Recently diagnosed and riddled with adhesions, scars etc.. finally have my ROM back, but I never know what’s gonna set my nervous system off. I’m going to watch and rewatch.
