wait my life is changed. i never squeezed the water out my whole life and i had such beautiful hair and then i read abt 3 years ago that you SHOULD squeeze it so i started and my hair has been so dry since but never made the connection to my low porosity hair!!!

cosmetology student here, slide your finger and thumb up one strand of hair, if it feels kinda rough, you have high porosity. Healthy porosity is low to medium, high means your cuticle is raised/damaged

High porosity fine hair here. I apply conditioner first to my dry hair. Then rinse in the shower. The. Shampoo. Then squeeze water out. Condition again. Rinse. The conditioner on my dry hair first trick saves my hair. I also load up on reef safe conditioner when I’m at the beach. Really a life saver for me.

put a strand of clean hair in a glass of water for a few minutes. if it sinks, you have high porosity hair, if it floats, you have low porosity hair

To figure out your porosity, spray your hair once–if it doesn't absorb easily it's low porosity. It looks a little like raindrops on leaves.

I HAVE to BLAST my head for like 20 minutes to make sure all my hair is ACTUALLY wet. Have to add water will shampooing, and conditioning.
