There are some great comments here, people that had similar experiences. You’re awesome for sharing this with everyone. When you said ‘don’t lose yourself…’ it sounds like a regret. If you look at it differently it may not seem that way. You gave 100% of yourself to the relationship. You gave yourself to someone and helped them accomplish his goals. That’s beautiful l! That’s living your life to the fullest and when you give yourself so wholly to someone else, you can leave the relationship knowing you gave it everything. Now….now you can do that for you, and find someone who can help you find balance.

I’m 55. Let me tell you life is long and has ups and downs. He’s high now. You feel low. Both will shift. Guaranteed. In the same life moments & chapters will elate and gut you - I’ve won an Emmy at the top of 30 Rock and lost my pup that shattered my heart. I’ve had birthday parties with 30 close people and other times felt I had few friends. I’ve filmed commercials in LA/NY/NOLA and others times felt lost in my career. There will be a day you are up and he’s not. The ebb and flow is eternal. Just live your life and push yourself to explore yourself and this planet!

Maybe use him as a reflection of you. I know it’s tough to see but you poured yourself into him, and look where he is, he’s accomplishing his dreams because of you. Which means it was never just him, it was you and perhaps in a way, you’re being reminded of this. You’re the one who brings things to life. You’re the one who expands others through your love.
