pdfiles are paraphilias, it's a mental illness/disorder that can be and is meant to be treated! Majority of the time they do not act on these urges and can resist them. It's a development problem

for those who are confused: pdphilia is some sort of actual mental difference, it can be developed or born with and managed through psychology and therapy. It is not voluntary and in of itself it isnt wrong (as it isnt a choice), not getting the care and therapy or acting on that mental difference is the choice and is what is wrong. Now, for the people who abuse kids and arent pdos, its usually not that said people are attracted to the child because they are a child but rather want the position of control or have an intent to harm and that the easiest victim of said harm would be a child.

as a childhood SA victim, I did research on these topics a few years ago. thank you for talking about them. even if only one more person knows this, it could be beneficial. most sa is actually about the sense of control and power, that is what they deem as attractive, not necessarily the person they attack. (hence, even those we deem as conventionally unattractive get SAed too, so do innocent children) yes, it is crucial that pedophilia be treated as the illness it is, as many of them do not hurt children. while rare, some get help, but more commonly, they isolate themselves (that is, if they are taught that hurting children is a negative, unfortunately that is not the case in my country)
