@philomenastone: as someone who has repeatedly expressed their dislike for it in the past, i obviously don’t disagree with the critique, but acting as if it’s still widely trending in 2026—or as if it ever dominated the contemporary poetry scene—is just a bit disingenuous. #poetrytok #writersoftiktok #BookTok #foryoupage #poetsoftiktok

its just a thing that happened that people turned into a joke. we can make fun of cliche movies but we can’t joke about poetry? i’m a writer and a poet and even i see how hypocritical that is. pomegranate poetry was a consumerized form of art

It kinda irked me how much hate they got, like even if it sucks why are we bullying people to stop writing poetry

I think people like the idea of the image more than actually musing on it and making something of their own now. More for an Instagram slideshow rather than poetry

I feel like most of the people who wrote about things mentioned in the videos were teenagers just starting out

Not anymore honestly. It was pretty common (and annoying) before, but I think people kinda need to let it go now. It was a passing fad and it’s not here anymore

what bothers me is that the majority of people writing these types of poems were teenage girls, and while I agree with some criticism I feel that it generally feels like people waving away the emotions of teenage girls

Also like god forbid amateur wrestling isn’t Pulitzer worthy. We all started out writing cringe. How is anyone supposed to get better when they get shamed out of writing???

People getting berated for it would certainly make its popularity diminish. God forbid beginners exist on this app, since they’re constantly humiliated and shamed. People were inspired. They were new, wanted to be a little aesthetic, and the pomegranate thing resonated with many people. I never wrote pomegranate poetry but everyone acted like writing it was such an affront to poetry for some reason. God forbid the youth be a little cringe.
