Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies are explicitly love stories, and as such are the first and only of its genre. Everything he does in that first movie is for MJ, without her he’d never gotten bit or gone to the wrestling match. Everything he goes through in the second movie is because of her, without her he’d never have lost his powers. Peter’s so romantic and so in love throughout those films.
