@brianleeceramics: I caused a problem in public kiln one time around a month ago. One of the small test firing exploded and the shattered pieces flew all over others’ work. This is quite tough situation to deal with. If this happens you need to communicate to the people who owns damaged stuff and also need to talk to the kiln masters. Not only that, you’d feel sorry to fire your stuff again next time. So big lesson learned. Make sure everything is fully dried before going inside the kiln. #ceramics #pottery #porcelain #clay #kiln
How is it your fault? I thought these things just happen

With it being a public kiln I'd think there would be someone checking all pieces before they go in to reduce the likelihood of something like this from happening

Even master ceramicists have blowouts and explosions from time to time, all it takes is one tiny fault in the clay. I'm sorry this happened though, just don't beat yourself up too bad over it

Nope, this is a glaze kiln, moisture was not the issue.

Hey bro it’s really not your fault. It just happens sometimes. You can do everything perfect and it still doesn’t survive in the end. That’s the nature of creating.

Serious question 🙋🏽♀️what could he have done to prevent this? Or what signs what have shown him this was going to happen?

It's not your fault. You would not have put your pieces in there if you knew this was going to happen.

How does the public kiln work. Did you put it in or did they? Did they know it was a test piece? If so why was it fired with their projects. Did you put it in an area to be fired or were you trying to dry it out more and they did it without asking. I gotta know who’s fault this was😅
