I know it feels wrong on many levels, and this behaviour is very unnecessary, but if the temperature is always high enough, it doesn’t actually matter, the chef will never transmit a disease to customers by doing this.

I hope the boys actually read these tik Tok comments because I bet it was a metal cake tester. fancy restaurants will use them pretty frequently to test meat temp. and they have a big colorful thing that looks like it would be for reading temperature from afar. you have a big bucket of them and you obviously don't reuse them.
