I’ve never heard anyone call either Easter fake. I’m catholic and have orthodox friends and family. The polite thing is just to refer to it as orthodox and Christian Easter I guess.

Grew up as a kid with a Greek family living next door, on Aussie Easter they used to come over and have BBQ and seafood with us and go on an egg hunt and the next weekend we used to go to theirs for Greek Easter and enjoy the Lamb they had cooking on the spit all day and all their sweets and all the kids used to play together. I loved celebrating both, that's what Australia is about, multiculturalism and celebrating it all with each other.

We are Greek Orthodox, part of the broader Christian faith, but we follow a different calendar. Because of that, we don’t celebrate Easter today for us, it falls next Saturday. Today is Palm Sunday in our tradition. Please don’t take this as disrespect. We simply practice our faith according to our own traditions, just as others do. The dates may be close, but they are not the same, and that’s okay. She was only trying to relate to others within the Greek Orthodox community and share traditions we follow there was no intention to offend anyone or dismiss the meaning of Easter. At the end of the day, we all follow God and Jesus, just in slightly different ways. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, perspectives, and traditions, and those differences shouldn’t turn into debates about whose faith is “better.”
