From what I see in the comments, many have a low level of stellaris or practically played very little, immigration is bad in the game and I will explain why there are several things to keep in mind in the game attraction of empire ethics,habitability,ascensions,stability,happiness,unity,crime,inmigration treaty and a lot more stuff governing ethics attraction why It is important happiness and stability , populations that share your empire's ethics are happier, happiness means more stability,unity and work efficiency factions and internal politics high governing ethics attraction strengthens factions aligned with your ethics, making it easier to pass reforms or shift government policies, specific bonuses certain traditions, edicts, or traits boost this attraction, reinforcing ideological control In other words, high governing ethics attraction keeps your empire cohesive, reduces discontent, and improves political efficiency, while low attraction can lead to instability and the rise of opposing factions,alien species usually have attractions of different ethics than those of your empire, creating factions opposed to your ideology ,empire if they grow in number they will give internal instability, possible rebellions,civil war, less happiness, less stability, less unity, less production of work, more crime, they basically kill you from inside.Habitability why its important, low habitability of the species in the planet increases the base upkeep of population and the amount of housing and amenities they require, which reduces their growth, their efficiency, they consume more resources to produce less,the funniest thing is that empires that are xenophobic or that are genetically "Pure" have more population growth, better performance, stability etc more than those with immigration, xenophilia, an example of biological ascension if you choose the "Purity" path.If you need immigration deals to fill out your jobs, you are playing stellaris like a newbie or you simply don't know all of these factors and you need to learn more the game. the premise is good but you didnt explain it in the best way. knowing a stellaris mechanic isnt 'necessary' to understand migration, because obviously stellaris is a simulatiom game with simplified systems that dont fully encapsulate real world experience, hence we cant extrapolate such easy conclusions from it. the game serves as a great analogy, that is however only justified if the context it is applied to also has the same underlying characteristics as stellaris. in our case, it is necessary to demonstrate that human races also have some biological differences written in our dna that work like species traits in stellaris. for that reason i encourage everyone to read this chinese research (they dont have that politically correct stigma that we have in the west), regarding the biological differences between human races: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/1471-2148-11-16 migration is killing our countries!

youve never played stellaris. when pops migrate to other empires worlds (which happens more if the home empire has less pop attraction, due to low stability or high devestation) they arent drains. they have generally the same upkeep (with species variation) and will immediately fill vacant jobs. if there are none, they become civilians, generating amenities for the working pops at no cost, letting you cut out amenity building to produce more resources. depending on the empire, research and unity can be produced by these civilians, alot of strategies are actually benefited by having tons and tons of non-working pops. also, theyre empires, not "fractions", even factions wouldnt work. if you played youd know thats a different thing
