As a hyper independent person, Sylus is very healing. I think he does well with respecting boundaries but letting mc know she can still lean on him. But I always find Caleb’s ‘help’ more triggering than anything else because he doesn’t really let you have your walls. He tears the boundary down and kind of makes you rely on him. Which can be healing in its own right. But definitely not for me. 😭 I have to be eased into it. But I can see why their fandoms are at odds so often. Their characters feel like opposites to me

i know he’s a walking red flag but caleb’s toxic sense of control and overprotection is so comforting to me as someone who’s been forced to fend for herself her whole life. while i appreciate sylus’ approach in letting you keep your independence, i would personally find it overwhelming and never ask for help at all. whereas with caleb i wouldn’t even need to think, he’s got it all taken care of. that’s the dream fr. ♥️

caleb main here. i never understood why i'm so drawn to him but maybe it's because i crave to be with someone who figures out everything for me, someone i can depend on, and maybe for once, i can turn off my mind trying to messily make my way out just to live and show up everyday. maybe the one i need is sylus to grow but my heart will always want caleb

i’m w caleb main, i understand a lot of people don’t like him, but i spent my entire life fending for myself, no one ever looked out for me, checked on me or helped in any way, i was basically forced to become the “i don’t need anyone” type of person, im so tired of fending for myself, no one to depend on, no one to fall back on, no one is here, it’s just me like it’s always been

Sylus actually inspires independence and strength in a soft, dedicated way rather than neglect/instability. even in the midst of chaos, he is calm and in control because he understands it. he allows you control even in his consideration/planning. Caleb insists upon communication and companionship even when there is distance, differences, arguments. it's like he says in his infinity leveling- "we always have dinner together". even when things are bad or upsetting, he still needs to be near.

Caleb likes the role as protector and finds purpose in being the sole person mc can rely on. Not to say that Sylus doesn't like the role as protector as well but he understands that mc is more than capable of handling herself. He respects mc's has boundaries and doesn't force her to do anything shes not comfortable with

Im a caleb main. I learned very young that I was the only person in my corner. I couldnt rely on anyone. no one took me seriously unless I was mean and vicious. im always the leader. im always in control. im the protector. im the caretaker. im the emergency contact. caleb is so appealing to me because he has been the protector and the caretaker for nearly mc's whole life. she doesnt have to explain her past, her quirks, her traumas, her likes, or anything because he has been there her whole life and knows her completely. I would gladly give up control. im tired. I want someone to fuss over me for once.
